This blog is all about animation, digital art and creations. You will also find references and character model sheets which may help you in 2D animation projects.
In this tutorial I will show you how to make a shiny text effect in Photoshop. It can be done in any CS version of Photoshop.
Let's get started:
1. First, make a new document with 851x315 px. dimensions. This is the standard size for Facebook cover pictures. 72 dpi resolution will be enough.
2. Fill the background with black color.
3. Now write the text using a font of your choice. Double click on the text layer for layer styles and use bevel and emboss with the following settings:
4. Now, Ctrl+click on the text layer thumbnail to get a selection. Go to Select--Modify--Contract--5 and press Ctrl+J to get a new layer with the contents of the selection. Fill the selection with white color.
5. Next , go to Filter--Noise--Add Noise
6. Then, Filter--Noise--Dust and Scratches
7. Now, add some layer styles as follows:
8. If it looks too dark, go to Image--Adjustments--Brightness and contrast. Drag the sliders to adjust.
You will get something like this.
9. Now add tiny little stars to get a twinkling effect and add some glow effect to the stars.
10. This is the image you will get.
11. I added a gold texture to the text, an ornament at the top and a golden border to complete the look.
This is my final image.

Here is a tutorial on a text effect I recently used to make a poster. It's an easy one & everyone can do it. You need Adobe Photoshop any version (I used CS3)...
This is the final image..
The steps are as follows:
1. Open Adobe Photoshop and create a new file (Ctrl+N) with 1920X1080 pt. and 75 dpi resolution.
2. Download seamless textures, one for the background and some for the texts.
3. Click file---Place----select the texture---click OK.
4. Press Enter.
5. Either use the texture as a pattern to fill up the background or you copy and paste the texture side by side to fill up the background. Select all the layers by holding shift and press Ctrl+E to merge the layers together.
6. Press T on your keyboard to activate the text option and write what ever you want.
7. Use the following settings for the text.
8. This is how it should look like.
9. Right click on the text layer and click on Rasterize Type.
10. Place the first texture for the first letter above the text layer.
11. Press W on your keyboard for the magic wand tool and click inside the first letter to select it. It should look something like the picture below. See the marching ants ?? that's the selection.
12. Now press Ctrl+J, it should form a new layer with the shape of the letter you selected.
13. Delete the layer below.
14. Follow the steps 10-13 for the rest of the letters and you should get something like the picture below.
15. Now lets add some depth to the text.
16. Select the layer containing the first letter (H in my case).
17. Double click on the layer to access layer styles and change the options as shown in the pictures.
[Drop Shadow--Blend Mode: Multiply, Opacity: 75%, Angle: 135, Use global light, Distance: 18px, Spread: 17px, Size: 18px.]
18. Once you are happy with the results, right click on the layer containing your first letter and click on copy layer style.
19. Now right click the next layer with the next letter and click Paste layer style and do this for the rest of the letters.
20. I wanted to add some glow to the O letter as it has the water texture, so applied the following settings to it. (Access the layer styles any time by double clicking any layer)
21. Now click on the text layer that you rasterized, remember?
22. Go to Filter---Blur---Motion Blur and choose the settings as below.
[Angle: 45, Distance:39]
23. Once you have done that, copy the layer 3 times by pressing Ctrl+J and move each layer a little towards the right side using the arrow keys on your keyboard.
24. Use the following layer style options for the last text layer.
Smiling may seem like an involuntary response to something cute or funny, but it is much more than that.
Studies suggest that smiling, forced or not, can have a positive effect on your mood, decrease stress levels, and it also has a positive impact on the ones around you.
Some of the benefits of smiling are :
When you see someone smiling, you sometimes find yourself smiling too. Smiles are contagious. Even in bad situations, if you smile, others are likely to mimic the expression.
Smiling lowers stress and anxiety. The next time you’re feeling stressed, just try smiling to calm yourself down.
Smiling helps in releasing endorphins, chemicals that makes you happier.Endorphins are the same chemicals you get from working out or running. So, smiling is a form of exercise too.
Smiling will make you more attractive. A smile suggests that you’re personable, easy going, and empathetic.
Smiling even makes your immune system stronger by making your body produce white blood cells to help fight illnesses.
Smiling can make you more comfortable in situations you would otherwise feel awkward in.
If you want to improve your credibility, simply smile more.
Smiling will help you leave a positive impact on those around you, it is a more effective leadership technique than having great management responsibilities. So, the next time you really want to show off those leadership skills, just grin.
